Melanie
Anne Barnes (b 1983) and raised in
Maryland. She graduated from Col. Zadok Magruder High School located
in Rockville, M.D. Melanie is a Business Administration major at
the Rockville campus of Montgomery College. After earning her Associates
degree at MC she is planning on transferring to the University of
Maryland in the fall of 2003. She hopes to participate in the prestigious
business program at the University of Maryland, and earn a Bachelors
degree in Business Administration with a major in Human Resources
or Management. Melanie’s ultimate goal is to become a successful
and independent businesswoman. She enjoys traveling, swimming, skiing,
shopping and horseback riding.

Bradford (b 1983), Gaithersburg High School 2001, Academy of Finance, Varsity Football,
Varsity Soccer, MC college Volleyball team. Served as Head teller
for Gaithersburg High School branch of MCT FCU and currently works two
jobs; Kohl’s Department Store and Outback Steakhouse

Alpha
B. Diallo (b. 1980) was born in Cameroon but raised in
his father’s country, Senegal, where he spent most of his
life. He graduated from one of the best French High School of West
Africa in 2000 and successfully passed his French Baccalaureate
in Literature. As a young kid, he had the opportunity to travel
to different countries such as France, Italy, Switzerland, and other
countries in Africa. He thinks that traveling often at a young age
has helped him adapt to different places and cultures. He came to
the United States in September 2000 and started Montgomery College
in January 2001. During his freshman year at MC, he was on the Dean’s
list and became a member of Phi Theta Kappa. In addition, during
the summer of 2002, he started working as a Student Aid in the office
of the Vice President and Provost of the Rockville Campus. His interest
in Business came from his parents. Indeed, his father is an Economist
and his mother is a Financial Analyst. He believes that they gave
him the push to succeed in life and achieve his professional goals
of becoming a CPA and studying International and Business Law in
order to become an International Counselor. He plans to get his
A.A. in Business at MC before transferring to the Business School
of Maryland, College Park in order to graduate in Accounting. He
hopes one day to work for one of the big four accounting firms such
as Ernst & Young LLP. Moreover, he is also strongly motivated
to work later for the United Nations Organization. He is perfectly
fluent in both English and French, has strong knowledge of Spanish,
and speaks two African dialects. In his leisure time, he enjoys
listening to Salsa and New Age music. Tennis and swimming are his
favorite sports.

Manjula
Dissanayake (b.1981) in Kandy, Sri Lanka. Manjula came
to the United States in July 2001. He had all his prior education
in Sri Lanka and got selected to the University of Kelaniya in Colombo,
to pursue his bachelor’s degree in Management. But he decided
to come to U.S as a student by himself seeking more opportunities.
Now he is a sophomore at Montgomery College and majoring Business
Administration. He is grateful to be in the Macklin Business Institute,
which gave him new hopes for his future. Besides being in the Macklin
honors program, Manjula is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa honors
society, in the dean’s list and the Sri Lankan representative
of the South Asian club at Montgomery College. He is hoping to transfer
to the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland
to complete his bachelor’s degree and plans further to obtain
his master’s and the doctorate in International business and
Finance respectively.

Dela
Essi Egbeto (b 1984) in Lausanne, Switzerland. At the age
of three, she moved to her parents’ country, Togo, in West
Africa. For thirteen years, she went to French schools, notably
la Tolerance primary school, and Notre Dame des Apotres secondary
school. In the fall of 1998, she entered the International School
of Lome where she graduated in 2000 as salutatorian of the school.
She has received many certificates and awards for being an honor
student, a basketball player, a swimmer, and a gospel choir member
for her school. In August 2000, she arrived in the United States
and entered Montgomery College in the spring of 2001. She first
declared her major as Computer Science before changing it to Business.
She plans on specializing in either finance or accounting. Besides
being on the Dean’s list, she is a Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society
member, an editor and office manager at the Rockville Campus newspaper,
the Advocate, a member of the gospel choir, and a member of the
African-Caribbean Club. She also has a strong knowledge of mathematics.
Her goal is to attend one the best business schools in the nation
such as the Wharton School of Business and to subsequently earn
a Juris Doctorate degree in International Law. She plans on using
her degree to contribute to the growth of third world countries

Pushkar
Godkar (b, 1982): Born in India in the city of Mumbai.
Pushkar attended Don Bosco High School (Mumbai) and later joined
R.A. Podar College of Commerce and Economics (Mumbai). Pushkar did
one year of Bachelor of Commerce before coming to the U.S.A. Besides
English, Pushkar can speak Hindi, Marathi and Urdu. Upon graduating
from Montgomery College, Pushkar wants to transfer to a university
(preferably University of Maryland College Park) and complete his
Bachelors degree in Economics. Pushkar is a member of the Phi Theta
Kappa (2 year college honor society). His hobbies include listening
to Indian music and playing cricket.

Susanne
Klein (b. 1979) grew up in Luebbenau, a town approximately
40 miles south of Berlin, the capital of Germany. Susanne graduated
from “Paul-Fahlisch-Gymnasium Luebbenau”, a German High-School,
in the summer of 1999. After accomplishment of the German “Abitur”,
she decided to participate in an international exchange program
to go abroad. Thereafter, Susanne came to the United States to live
here for one year to learn the English language. Shortly after she
arrived in the U.S., she decided to apply for a student visa. Today,
Susanne is a successful international student at Montgomery College
pursuing a major in Business Administration. She has been placed
on the Dean’s List for recognition of academic achievement
in her past semesters. After graduating from the Macklin Business
Institute at Montgomery College, Susanne intends to transfer to
the Robert H. Smith Business School of the University of Maryland,
College Park, and pursue a degree in International Business. During
her time at the University of Maryland, she is planning to intern
at a company in the European Union over the summer break to gain
experience in her field of studies. Susanne’s long-term goal
is to obtain a Masters in Business Administration.

Douglas
S. Koehn (b. 1981) has lived in Derwood, Maryland for most
of his life. Douglas graduated from Col. Zadok Magruder High School
in Rockville, Maryland. There he participated in many extracurricular
activities including football, wrestling and lacrosse. At Montgomery
College he will earn his Associates degree in Business Administration
and continue on to the University of Maryland where he will earn
his Bachelors degree. Douglas’s long term goals are starting
his own business and living very comfortably. He has many passions
including oil painting, cooking, writing, architectural design and
staying healthy.

Prashant
Koirala (b 1982) is from Nepal. He did his schooling in
India (10th grade). He finished his high school in Nepal. He came
to this country in January 2001 and attended University Of Maryland,
Baltimore County (UMBC) for one semester. He was majoring in Computer
Science. He then realized that he wanted to do more than just become
a Computer Programmer. He joined Montgomery College in the fall
of 2001. He believes “Success is choice and not a chance.”
He is glad that he chose Macklin Institute as his foundation for
success.

Yvonne
Monyei (b. 1984) born in Lagos, Nigeria. She always wanted
to be a mathematician, but chose accounting as a more practical
career. She plans to transfer to the Smith School of Business at
the University of Maryland College Park. In addition to being a
Macklin student, she is also a student at the Montgomery College
Scholars Program. Some of her hobbies include reading, tennis, and
community service.

Uyen
Nhi Nguyen (b. 1983): born in Vietnam, came to the US in
1996. She graduated from Quince Orchard HS with a Certificate of
Merit in June of 2001. Currently, she is a Macklin Scholar at Montgomery
College. She plans to take on a double major: one in International
Business and one in International Relations, after she has transferred
to a four year college. Once in a while, people might find her to
be “kinda weird.” Fortunately, most of the time, she’s
nice and perfectly normal. She likes reading Vonnegut’s books
and she enjoys surrealist and expressionist paintings.

Genevieve
Oliver (b 1983) in Spokane, WA. Genevieve’s family
moved to Maryland after her sophomore year of high school. She graduated
from the Academy of the Holy Cross while working part time at Hudson
Trail Outfitters. At Hudson Trail she was recognized for her superior
customer service and highest sales per hour. At the end of her senior
year she began working full-time at the corporate office of Hudson
Trail as the Accounts Payable Clerk. Genevieve’s interest
in business sprung from her experiences working at the locally founded
company. During the summer after her freshman year at Montgomery
College she had the opportunity to work in the Distribution Center
of Hudson Trail as the receiving clerk. As receiving clerk, she
dealt with all shipments entering into the company warehouse and
was responsible for accurately posting the merchandise into inventory.
After graduating from Montgomery College in the spring, she plans
to transfer into a top ranking business school. Her recent honors
have been The National Dean’s List and the Montgomery College
Hispanic Student Academic Award. Her interests include participating
in extreme sports such as skydiving, white water kayaking, mountain
biking, rock climbing and scuba diving.

Alissa
Ouspenskaia (b. 1983) in Moscow, Russia. In 1991, she came to the U.S. with her
immediate family. She graduated from Bellaire High School in
Houston, TX, where she was president of the Russian Club and an
active member of the National Honor Society and a number of other
community service clubs. After the Macklin Business Institute she
plans to attend the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the
University of Maryland, where she plans to major in International
Business and minor in Environmental Science. Alissa wishes to apply
her studies of French and Spanish in the university’s Study Abroad
program. She is very interested in learning new languages and
cultures. Her career goal is to work on developing and promoting
environmentally sustainable and economically efficient business
practices. Her personal goal is to see her family in Russia and in
Israel. In her free time, Alissa dances, runs, trains in martial
arts, and visits close friends in Houston and Chicago.

Pinto (b.1983) High School in Kuwait, 2001. Indian, born and raised in
Kuwait. Intends to major in finance and work on Wall Street. Has
been Interested in finance since childhood. Phi Theta Kappa. Carries
4.0 GPA at MC.

Reena
Tuli (b.1982) born and raised in Montgomery Co., MD. Reena
spent her first two years of high school attending The Connelly
School of Holy Child, then transferred and graduated from Walt Whitman
H.S. in Bethesda, MD. Reena enjoys playing tennis and pet sitting
in her free time. Reena is currently and has been on Dean’s
List at Montgomery College, she also received in Asian Student Academic
Award in spring of 2002. Reena hopes to start at the University
of Maryland in fall of 2003 and plans to pursue an undergraduate
degree in business.

Rosa
Villalobos (b.1975) in Lima, Peru. After graduating from
High School, she decided to become an insurance broker; she obtained
her license graduating first in class at an Insurance Institute
in Lima. Rosa has worked for several years in the Insurance Market
at her country. She worked as an Executive Assistant for the largest
Insurance Company in Peru, and as a Senior Executive Assistant in
an Insurance Broker with headquarters in New York. Last year, Rosa
decided to come to the United States in order to study Business
Administration at Montgomery College, she obtained the Hispanic
Student Award and also a Scholarship at Macklin Business Institute.
After obtaining her A.A., Rosa plans to transfer to University of
Maryland for studying Business, and finally to obtain an MBA and
specialize in Marketing.

Li
Zhu (b 1983) in Chengdu, China and came to the United States
in 2000. She graduated from Richard Montgomery High School. Currently,
she is a sophomore at Montgomery College and enrolling in Macklin
Business Institute. After achieving her AA degree at MC, Li intends
to transfer to University of Maryland College Park to pursue her
Bachelor’s Degree on Decision and Information Science, and
Master’s Degree on International Business later on. Besides
enrolling in honor programs and classes, she was inducted into Phi
Theta Kappa, which is the International Honor Society of the two-year
colleges. She was also recognized as an honor student by National
Honor Society, and she was awarded by Montgomery College Asian American
Awards. In addition, she is involved in several school activities.
She is also an active member of Montgomery Ambassador Association
and Computer Science Club at School. This fall she is playing volleyball
for Montgomery College. In her spare time, she enjoys reading novels,
listening to classic music, and working out.
