Montgomery College students now have an even clearer path to achieving their academic goals thanks to a new transfer agreement with the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) and a newly established endowed scholarship.
Through the agreement, MC graduates who complete an associate degree with at least a 3.0 GPA and meet RIT’s admission requirements are guaranteed acceptance into RIT. Students also benefit from waived application fees, streamlined credit transfers for courses completed with a grade of C or better, and ongoing advising support.
MC alumna Denisia Jocktane Akagah recently began pursuing a biomedical engineering degree at RIT through this pathway—one of the first students to benefit from the new partnership.
In addition, all eligible MC graduates transferring to RIT are automatically considered for the Ken Becker/Montgomery College and Ashley Cheng/Montgomery College Endowed Scholarship, awarded by RIT’s Office of Financial Aid.
“This new transfer agreement and scholarship with the Rochester Institute of Technology is a powerful example of how our members of the Montgomery College Foundation Board of Directors champion student success while students are here at the College and as they continue their education at four-year institutions,” said Bernadette Maldonado, Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations and Executive Director of the Montgomery College Foundation. “We are incredibly grateful to Ken Becker and Ashley Cheng, whose vision and dedication made this opportunity possible. Their commitment reflects the very best of our Foundation—opening doors, creating pathways, and expanding opportunities for our students to achieve their dreams.”
