Description

Build a solid foundation in computer networking concepts, and start preparing for the CompTIA IT Fundamentals certification. Learn the basics of computing, IT infrastructure, software development, and database use. In addition, learn the basics of installing software, establishing basic network connectivity, and identifying/preventing basic security risks. Topics include: networking primer, switches, routers and the basics of network security. The information you learn in this training serves as the foothold for your career in information technology. This course is a prerequisite for Security+ and Network+ courses.  

Prerequisites

Mastering Windows Fundamentals (ITI499) or a solid understanding of computer hardware and operating systems.

Objectives

  1. Recognize basic network components.
  2. Utilize features and functions of common operating systems and establishing network connectivity.
  3. List and describe network media and hardware components.
  4.  Identify common software applications and their purposes.
  5. Identify security and web browsing best practices.
